This delicious Italian dish consists of baked zucchini slices and a crispy cheese crust. The zucchinis are first cut into slices, baked and then covered with a mixture of breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese and herbs and baked again. Zucchinis au gratin are perfect as a side dish with tasty fish and meat dishes, but also as a light starter for a nice dinner evening with friends and family.

Instructions
First preheat the oven to 180°C/360°F top/bottom heat.
In the meantime, wash the zucchini and remove the stems. With the vegetable slicer cut about 5mm/0.2in thick slightly oblong slices from it.
500 g zucchini
Prepare a baking tray lined with parchment paper and grease it evenly with a dash of olive oil. Now spread the sliced zucchini on it, drizzle with a little olive oil and salt to taste.
Bake in the preheated oven on the middle rack for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, place the breadcrumbs in a large bowl. Finely grate the parmesan and add to the breadcrumbs. Now also add the thyme and marjoram, season with salt and pepper to taste and mix everything thoroughly.
60 g breadcrumbs, 60 g parmesan cheese, 1 tsp thyme, 1 tsp marjoram
Remove the baked zucchini slices from the oven after 30 minutes. Then spread the breading on the zucchini and drizzle everything again with a little olive oil. Then return to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes. Next, put the tray on the top shelf and bake for another 2 - 3 minutes with the grill function until golden brown.
Finally, remove the delicious gratinated zucchini and serve hot.Buon appetito!
